() Date: August 04, 2022 10:10PM Saw this toy Corvair sell on eBay for $787! Was wondering why so valuable? Any Corvair toy experts out there…it looks like a vintage Hot Wheel but made in Hong Kong. Must be very rare to bring that kind of money. [www.ebay.com] Eric Napa, CA Attachments: ![]() Re: Why is this toy Corvair so Valuable? Sold $780 Posted by:

() Date: August 05, 2022 01:50AM Hi Erie, can I give you my take, to someone who loves collecting Corvair toys. Ebay reaches out to millions of people and all is take is two buyers that want that item. Two buyers that want that item badly is your key to the craziest numbers. Does the above toy corvair toy now worth $787 ?? No no no Yesterday it was worth that to that one buyer..! If you put that exact toy back on Ebay tomorrow it might sell for a lot less. I've seen the exact toy very rarely on Ebay and I can totally understand how two people wanted it badly. Who knows when the next one comes up on Ebay?? Truthfully I saw that on the first day that it was on Ebay and said to myself "that will sell for about $450.00" I didn't think it would take almost twice that amount of cash. Anybody have any of those Hong Kong Corvair toys lying around??? Dan Dood 69 Monza Convertible 66 500 Coupe 66 Monza 4 speed 61 Monza 4 door Detroit, Michigan Re: Why is this toy Corvair so Valuable? () Date: August 05, 2022 01:57AM I stole these pictures from Joe Darinsig on Facebook. I think it might be impossible to find one in the original card. I believe the company from Hong Kong issued three different colors. I would love to have all 3 but they don't come up very much on Ebay. () Date: August 05, 2022 02:17AM One more opinion on this late model Corvair toy. I think of all the Corvair toys that companies produced in the 60's and 70's that they didn't hardly produced as many late models as early models. As a buyer of anything Corvair toy related I get very excited to see any "late models".. Like I said it only takes two buyers that want that one item. I emailed the seller on this toy after the auction was done and he said he was floored with the final number. He said he had no idea the value before the auction started. Good for him !! () Date: August 05, 2022 06:50AM Thanks Dan for your response and posted pictures. Very cool! I’m not a toy collector but have bought many Corvair Diecast and models over the years, once your hooked on the Vair hobby It seems buying some toys goes with it! When I saw this listing I thought it was a Hot Wheel but little did I know, I will have to check to see if I have one of these cars from Hong Kong. I bet the seller was amazed at the outcome for sure. Eric Napa, CA Re: Why is this toy Corvair so Valuable? Sold $780 Posted by:

() Date: August 05, 2022 09:22AM I have had a blue and gold one out of package and they are very hard to find! I have spent way too much on some of my Corvair collection but just had to have it! I have never seen one in the package until now! Late model stuff is rare. I think the best is yet to come in the Jay Leno Stinger! Attachments: ![]() Re: Why is this toy Corvair so Valuable? () Date: August 05, 2022 12:44PM I have these two, and the one that just sold on ebay has the mag wheels which was called the "jet wheels" version. I find this version harder to find? And like Dan, I thought $400.-$500. for that one on ebay. () Date: August 07, 2022 07:56AM When it comes to "toy" cars, the model market is insane. When they were first introduced, I never thought "Hot Wheels" would ever be collectable. They cost all of 50 cents, were never that accurate in their details, and were so plentiful. Nowadays, they're insanely collectable and some are worth a couple hundred times their initial price. Promos and kit models are the same story. Last time I checked a couple of my promos are worth in excess of $450.00. One of my Corvair kit models can't even be priced, as it's so rare it's merely listed as "RARE" in the value guide. Then there are the tin toys, die cast models, etc. The variety and type of models and scales is mind-boggling. All of which is why I stick mostly to 1/24 or 1/25 kit and resin models, though have gotten into other model scales and varieties just to get an example of what I want to have in my collection. All because my tastes range all the way back into the brass era. I'd like to see my collection (over 400 models and counting) end up in a museum one day. (Don't ask me the collection's worth, it's mind boggling as well.) -Mark Re: Why is this toy Corvair so Valuable? Sold $780 Posted by:

() Date: August 07, 2022 11:47AM Hi Mark, Agree with your comments, I have a couple of promos too and paid between $100 to $300 for them only because I wanted one to match my Corvair. Please post a picture of your “rare” die cast would love to see it. One plastic model I have that I have not seen to many of is the Astro 1 (Aka Corvair SuperGT).
