Thanks Rick this thread is an excellent reference. This info is probably on the facebook group but it is hard to search. I always thought these had white engines, nice to see the details of the silver engine.

I will keep my eye out for more parts, but in the mean time I think I will use your photos as reference and try to fabricate some parts to dress up that modern OHV Techumseh 5hp to look a little more period correct. I am sure its a much better running and reliable engine than anything of the 70s.

OT. Similar topic, so I thought you might find it interesting.
As a kid, probably 7th grade, I had this XK120 cart. I got it with some kind of worn out 4 stroke. I put my dads Hornet 2-man chainsaw engine in it. I remember he was a little unset when he found out.
The Hornet image is from the internet.
The red tinted cart image is from a 35mm color slide. His camera at the time was from before the 35mm cartridge's. He had to load the camera in a dark room or inside a sealed camera bag. He had a corner dark room inside the garage and developed his own film. I remember that red tint sometimes on the ends of the rolls.

That would be a cool looking engine hanging out the back of a vintage kart.

Ryan,

All the Cardinal Red Monza Jrs, the Marina Blue Chevy Jrs, and the first part of the run of the Hugger Orange Chevy Jrs had the classic White Tecumseh engines. Not sure if the start of 1970 or mid year, Tecumseh changed their color and Rupp installed them as they were.

Its crazy, I had messed with documenting the Monza / Chevy Jrs several times over the past couple decades and always fell flat on my face from lack of input or verifiable data.

I have learned more and documented more in the past 9 months than in the past 30 years.

Hey Ryan,

I stopped by the guys house with the Craigslist Ad. He has advertised three H35's and actually had one. Sadly, the one H35 was a model with PTO side exhaust port and not rear exhaust like our H35's. The other two were actually HS35's...slightly different and much newer thaqn th e60's model I am looking for.

I did dig though his other stuff and found a Tecumseh H70 and an NOS muffler for the H70 that I bought so the hour drive wasn't a waste.

I am still on the hunt...
