It seems all the plates are from Ohio, just different years. Instead of nailing them on the garage wall, he bolted them to the bumper (not sure that's legal). As a long time resident of Ohio, I can assure you, that's the PERFECT state!

So they took a 1986 Chevy van chassis, added some Corvair body panels, and then free handed a paint job with watercolors? Is that what I see?

To each his own. Not my cup of tea but someone did a nice job, probably in the 80s.
The 60s and 70s music stations have gone away in the Twin Cites. I don't care for 80s music either. My associate loves it. I've been torturing him with jazz which of course is timeless..
Turquoise was my Mother's favorite color. $6500 for a solid good running Van is getting to be a pretty good deal. We should remember to be nice.
My buddy is reluctant to post pictures of his El Corvino project for fear of negative comments and having to defend cutting up 4 bad Corvairs.

Is the front bumper really the rear bumper from a '78-'88 El Camino?

Putting it back to stock would be no less work than restoring a rust bucket, other than the buy-in price.

I saw that advertised a couple weeks ago but thought twice about posting it.
For some reason the thought "If you can't say anything nice....." came to mind so I didn't post it.confused smiley

Did they make a custom molding kit for this or was that sold from like JC Whitney. Besides the front end it is really not that bad. Does anyone have a link or a few more pictures. We have all seen our fair share of custom work on Corvairs and usually someone on here knows the creator. Bad or good I would like to see more pictures!

Some sure know how to make new Corvair owners welcome to the forums, which also reflects back on CORSA. This is why I am no longer a CORSA member because I was run off by one of the anointed CORSA officials years ago because I took a different point of view that was contrary to his. I don't go where I am not welcome and I don't stay where I don't feel comfortable.

I don't believe this was posted by the owner of the unique van.

I can admire good craftsmanship and engineering even if the vision is different than my own.
This Van was probably done back in the day when this sort of customization was more common.
I didn't examine it closely but it looks like they did a good job. All the skirting and such is still hanging in there well so it must be sturdy. It must have taken a lot of time to get the fit and finish correct, I wouldn't be able to accomplish it. I do like the 2 tone colors and body color wheels.
My taste in Vans is more like shop truck so it wouldn't be the one for me.
Corvair Vans were plentiful and cheap 30 years ago.

Nice, with all the rust and missing glass that must really help with gas mileage.
