() Date: August 01, 2022 12:24PM Anyone have picures? I've never had an FC with this seal intact and would like to get my new Rampside sealed up. The EMs use the rear grill to grab the seal but I don't see anything on the body of the Rampside to hold the seal. () Date: August 01, 2022 01:05PM Sorry - It's hard to get a picture with the grill in place. FC's use a separate retainer piece. It's straight on one side and curved on the other. Not all FC's came with the grill, so they had this retainer. It sandwiches the seal to the body just like on an EM. It has screws along the back to hold it in place. This piece is comparatively rare as it seems to often be discarded when the engine is removed. ![]() Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/01/2022 01:06PM by The Stig. () Date: August 01, 2022 03:30PM Here are some photos, taken a few minutes ago, of the piece described by the Stig. Unfortunately, it's greasy (imagine that!) so it shows up mostly as black, but you should be able to get the idea. If you need it, I have it, but this would probably cost more to ship than it's worth. WhyImWhenIm64 Attachments: ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: FC rear perimeter seal Posted by:

() Date: August 01, 2022 03:43PM That's what I needed. I couldn't figure out why I had no vertical holes but it takes horizontal ones. Out of all my FCs I've never seen one. I need to go dig around and see if there is one I missed. Joel Northlake, TX 5 Ultravans, 136 Corvairs and counting... ![]() Re: FC rear perimeter seal Posted by:

() Date: August 01, 2022 04:11PM I found one! Actually I found 2 but the first one I couldn't get off because it was welded to the body. Apparently someone thought it would be a good idea to torch out a semi-circular area so the oil filter adapter would clear better when dropping then engine and they really got carried away and fused the retainer to the body. It wasn't much good anyway with the big area torched out. I found a '64-'65 that had one on it but so far none of the engine side retainers. I'll post another thread on wanted parts. () Date: August 01, 2022 05:09PM From the factory was the rubber piece stapled to the 3-different sheet metal pieces that attach to the engine. It isn't clear in the exploded parts view above. Thanks! Enjoy the Corvair! () Date: August 01, 2022 05:20PM Yes, Rubber stapled to front & side shroud pieces and then shroud pieces attached to engine. Sandwiched to body by the retainers. Re: FC rear perimeter seal Posted by:
