For 66 - larger boss/thicker side of upper A arm axle goes toward crossmember, right?

Can't find any hints in the shop manual.

Here are my coupe parts.

Old parts as removed, 1st photo. I suspect they may have been removed before, due to the mismatched cross-shaft installations.

New install, end photo. Using factory length Grade 8 bolts. If it is wrong, then I hope the alignment can compensate.

With these axles, it looks like there is an "up/down" and an "in/out" aspect. On the top, it's flat. On the bottom, it is curved where the bosses are.



lane 66 looks like the pictured A arm on the right would be OK if you just rotated the axle 180 so the flat side was up. Then the thicker boss would also face the crossmember. The last photo looks like it went in wrong, because the thick part is facing the nuts.

Dan - looks like you have both oriented with the thick part facing the crossmember too. I'm going to call that confirmed.

Too bad GM did not use robust design here, where a part can only be installed one way: CORRECTLY. Of course, maybe it really does not matter, since LM has the eccentric camber bolt rather than the shims used on EM.

So: FLAT side up, Thick side facing crossmember (facing outboard).
