Bought me a Corsa convertible_pics
Posted by: BigGeorgesVair ()

Well...I pulled the trigger. I've been wanting a convertible for awhile, and our club knew someone selling one of his 2 cars (buyers choice) and so, I bought his 65 Corsa convertible.
Another reason I pulled the trigger is my coupe is down due to body work required for l/m windshield rust repair (windshield is out and I can't drive itsad smiley

So, here are a few pics of my new ride. I thought this was going to just be a jump in and drive car, but driving it home and after getting it here, its had some starting up issues. (seller was a super guy and was surprised....I think it 'may be' just the battery even though its only a year old)
Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks...George

with all car purchases, there are ALWAYS things you wanna change. Here is a rear shot and it might be obvious to most, but I'd rather go stock with the rear end.
confused smiley
it was a 2 owner car and evidently, the original owner worked for GM and liked the Impala, etc rear end. But I like the REAL Corvair look better in this case.

Gorgeous 65 Corsa with some very desirable options. I’m with you George, the Impala taillights look great on an Impala, not so much on a Corvair. Enjoy your new ride!

Do I see an inertia switch in the engine compartment?

Love the car, but, in my opinion; taillights......ugh! Enjoy!

I don't care for the taillights either but if you want them to be like an Impala put the backups in between the 2 taillights.

Beautiful car. I like everything about it. The color is sharp! I really dig the hydro-dip woodgrain dash. I even like the additional taillights. Sets your car apart from all the rest. Congrats! thumbs up

I agree great color and nice looking overall. Hopefully starting issue will be small and easy.

In regard to added tailights: My 67 cpe which I use as daily shop/work car had 2 extra added when I bought it. I moved the BU to nearest centerline because I wanted brake/turn signal/tail light bulbs at the outside edge of the car to show the width of the body plus brighter because closer together.

NOTE: I didn't say I like the additional lights, I am just admitting to the CCF world that I am seen driving the car every day during the week. <grin> However I will say that once in a while someone will ask if those were an option.

Have fun with the car George

As far as the Mrs is concerned, I’m safe if I tell her $1000…
“What did that one cost us? Oh, I got a great deal on it honey, only $1000!” grinning smiley

Let’s see the data plate George!

Phil...yes...you are allowed to ask!
....I paid $10K. And it came with a TON of spare/extra parts (lots of new ones from Clarks and some used good stuff too....he was preparing to convert to later model steering column so he threw all that stuff in including the steering box). I think it was a GREAT deal...Definitely not bragging, cause I also like to know what people paid for stuff too.

Turns out it looks like the 'starting issue' may be just the battery. I swapped it out with one I had just bought for a truck I am working on and it started right up. Just weird. the battery that was in it was only a year old and shows 12.65 volts, but wouldn't turn it over. The previous owner said he did plan on swapping it with a higher CCA. the one in it only had 425 CCA which I though was really low too...He had a trickle charger always connected...but I guess it was just a 'cheap battery. I'll monitor this one to see if maybe the car has a draw on it. LOTS of wires that I don't know where they are goingconfused smiley

Thanks Phil....I thought so too.

Gatorfly:
Here is a pic of the data plate and another pic that I have a question about. The remote control for the driver mirror fell out when I tried to use it and there is a 'plastic plug' above the location, so I'm wondering if it was 'relocated' for some reason???? Any advice on how to put it back in and if there is an issue due to the location??
Thanks!
