FC parts picked before scrapping?
Posted by: momach ()

There's a few nearby FC's going to their final resting place soon. They've been outside for too many decades to be candidates for saving. Sad to see.
There's a Rampy with aluminum camper canopy, deluxe Greenbrier and a van or two.
I'll pull decent parts off if anyone has something in particular they're looking for.
I plan to get any deluxe model pieces, door card trims, visors, ramp hinges, chrome bumpers rear engine drop down access panels. And windshields if possible. I won't be able to get to the drivetrain, these are up to their axles in soil and I'm not THAT ambitious.
Suggestions for what else to look for?

The early '61 4-speed would be worth digging out.
Any mid '63 up to get the shifter & parts from?

All are 61's with one '63 3R125S101826. I'd like to get the drivetrains, but doubt that's going to happen.
If I find a telehandler in the neighborhood, maybe.

Bucket seats are always valuable, even with very frayed upholstery.

I get calls for a jack once in a while.
Those license plate lights, tail lights and reflectors are good to save.
A spare tire mount is a good thing to have.
FC seats are getting hard to come by even if it's bare.
FC windshields are rare, some of the aftermarket ones don't fit well.
FC gas heaters are rare but not many people drive them in the cold anymore.
I don't need any of that stuff myself at the moment.

On the deluxe Greenbrier make sure to pull all six of the window regulators. These have longer shafts for the crank handle to allow spacing for the door cards. I have several contacts looking for these.

I'll second what Jim B said. I would be interested in a jack and spare tire mounting hardware from the Rampy.

If any of them have outside mirrors, I'd be interested in those.

If the 61 door emblems are any good, grab those.

Thanks very much!!

Enjoy the Corvair!

Good suggestion, Paul. If there are junior west coast mirrors after Paul's needs, let me know. These are the mirrors that look like small versions of the ones on 18 wheelers, attach top and bottom to the door.

if you can't pull drivetrains, any engines that have the FC specific engine parts would be good to salvage

I almost forgot, also on the Deluxe, the inside door handle actuators from the front and side doors.

On the 61's make sure to get the arm rests. These are specific to 61's.

Something not mentioned might be the Radio Housing / Mount as it is specific to the FC vehicles. Yes, ones from cars can be modified but original and correct is always better.

As bulky as they might be, correct FC Wheels may also have some value to the right individuals.

IF there is a correct FC Roof Rack, or even parts of one, consider them as well.

Personally, I would have an interest in Window Screens and Ventshades should there be any.grinning smiley

Finding a decent ramp protector is likely doubtful but I'd be interested.

Instrument panels are specific to the FCs. Get matching glovebox door. Door switches to activate the cargo lights. Get any rear grilles and license plate lights. Don't forget the backup light asswemblies. Chrome bumbers are always search for.
