I know its a long shot but just picked this up. The seller basically just mocked it up for the ad and I know its not all correct (140 top shroud etc). Im curious if anyone recognizes it. It has some significant visuals and add-ons that maybe someone seen it along the way. I was hoping to get a little history on it before I tear into it. Fortunately I got the original shrouds and some correct parts not in the pic. I dont think he had the chrome top shroud on when he got it.

The guy said it came out of OH so maybe ??

Anyway he had a few things in his ad. I only bought this and some shrouds

Can't help id the engine, Joe, but never knew Clifford (6 = 8) made Corvair parts. Someone ground the Clifford name off your valve covers.

Thanks Scott- yeah I saw that too. Im not keeping them anyway but hopefully the engine isn't thrashed inside. The upper head nuts are capped so there has been some action on it. We'll see. My son went and got it for me so its still in route

It's home and it was clearly in a buggy of some sort. It's also got a pg bellhousing on it but it's got a 12/28 build date with correct turbo and heads

Looks pretty cool with the straight pipe and all, hopefully it wasn't ridden hard and put away wet.
Personally if I had it in a buggy I would probably beat the hell out of it.

Only partially related, but I have a set of Clifford Performance Valve covers, that look identical to those.
Why on earth would a person think it was a good idea to mill the middle like that?

Well maybe I got lucky. The inside looks good and there was rotten but liquid fuel still in the carb. I usually find a dried up mess. The Crown exhaust housing is interesting. Also I think it's a 65 block. The heads are for sure.
