() Date: June 21, 2022 02:32AM I am looking for referrals to get my wheel cylinders re-sleeved in stainless for one of my 54 intertrashionals. Of the four (yes, four) rears, I have only located one new one, for $140 and the other 3 are out of stock everywhere, possibly forever. I plan to convert to silicone brake fluid while its apart, as I usually do and I have had trouble with brass sleeves weeping silicone fluid around them on a customer car; that rebuilder said the only fix was a full system flush and dot3. Thanks as always! () Date: June 21, 2022 07:46AM I have not had that problem with my resleeved master cylinders with brass sleeves but I would note that seepage/leakage also happens with new cylinders using standard brake fluid. () Date: June 21, 2022 08:54AM Thank you for the info guys! I checked White Post restorations, they sleeve in brass and they have this disclaimer: " Lifetime Warranty We fully guarantee all parts that are sleeved and/or rebuilt by us, with the exception of those used in conjunction with silicone fluid (DOT 5)." Unfortunately they will not work. I will reqch out to Brake and equipment supply today. Thanks again as usual! () Date: June 21, 2022 11:43AM Just what does Brass have to do with leaks? Read some of the threads on AACA forum. Lots of antique cars running brass sleeved cylinders with DOT 5. There was some trouble with another stainless sleeve vendor who use sleeves with a seam in them. And boring to size did not clean the seam area. Of course they leaked like a sieve. It was not a vendor mentioned above. Frank DuVal Fredericksburg, VA Re: Sort of OT: who re-sleeves wheel cylinders in stainless? Posted by:

() Date: June 23, 2022 07:27PM Sorry I didn't see your post earlier, Cody. This the shop in Ft. Wayne, In. that Larry Claypool featured in his recent video on Corvair brakes. [webzoom.freewebs.com] From their site: "At BRAKE Materials and PARTS, rebuilding begins with an analysis of why the product failed. Careful expert attention identifies the unit and matches it with original factory specifications or better. We will inspect the condition of the cylinder bore and we can provide stainless sleeving services if required. Then rebuilding begins." Good luck! Scott Danville, In.
