Looking for early shrouds and thermostats since Clarks no longer have them.
Thanks,

Corvair Ranch Gettysburg PA. If no joy there, I'm sure I have the shrouds, but California.

If they have used delcostats, pay up them, you'll be glad you did.

Are early & late thermostats the same?

If so, I have thermostats, & the bracket for them but not any of the tins.

Early (1960) thermostats are different. 61-69 are the same. I believe A/C equipped engines used a different part number.

I have a few that are a larger diameter than the others.

Are early the big or small ones?

1960 thermostat is bigger diameter. It fits the upper shroud and moves a baffle vane in the fan area to limit air movement into the fan.

All lower shrouds thermostats are the same (AFAIK), just the rods screwed into them change length depending on lower shroud design (early late, etc).

All 61 -69 lower shrouds are not the same I found out.

The EM 61 - 63 lower shroud forward end has 2 mount holes. Where the 64 EM and 65 - 69 LM lower shroud forward end has 1 mount hole Can't mix them.

This also why you can't mix the heat duct adapter panels between 61 -63 and 64 - 69. They are different for mount hole reason and the 64 EM and 65 - 69 LMs shrouds have been trimmed back where the forward rib is cast into the block.

The '64 lower shrouds still used the 2 holes to mount them at the front to the heater ducts. Since the '64 front heater duct has the block notch it makes these parts 1 year only. You can just leave those front bolts out and inter-change the parts as needed.

I believe 61 and '62 were welded parts- the lower shrouds and the rear door shrouds left and right. This would be info for the stock Corvair group people.

I think that it was only '61 that was welded together. I went through my pile of engine sheet metal and saw that there was 2 different versions of the welded together lower shroud-door combos. One version you could not remove the door pivot pin. The sheet metal just had a small "dome" over the top of the pin. The other welded together parts had the common bend over/break off tab for holding in the pin. The lower shrouds looked like they changed almost every year and then stayed the same '65-'9.
