Is there a way to narrow that down to’65?
Trying to determine around what date one would have been built

Your trim tag will tell you when Fisher Body built the shell. Then it's a guesstimate on where your v.i.n. fits into the production schedule.

No.

The body, engine were built before being assembled.

Can only guess... Heard about build sheets being in the back seat, but most are probably long gone... Do not know hat date (if any) is on them.

I realize that it is the same chart.
Where do you think I got it.
You requested that the info be narrowed down, so I did.
Now you want it even "Narrower".
How is this?
If you want something else, you need to be a bit more specific.
How about posting those tags? (V.I.N. tag & Fisher Body Tag)

American Mel,
Just trying to understand why you are posting the same chart info three times now. What is it you want me to see that you think I am missing?

He’s being “funny” LOL. I think “Corvair Gold” may have what you’re looking for:

You can only guess when a specific vin was produced. That the total # of units for the sytle and divide by 12. Some months will be less but some will be more. Then you can kind of figure out the production for a specific month by multiplying the divided number result by the number of months since production began to when you vin was produced. Just a guess after all that.

As an example:
65 coupe production with a trim tag stamped 5 week of December 64. you must add 1 month earlier than September announcment.

88,954 divided by 12 = 7,413 x 5 = 37,064. Still just a guess.

Three times you have been told that MORE info is available, IF we know your Tag Data!
I guess you couldn't see the forest for the trees.
The chart was in fun.
The WRITTEN MESSAGE is what I wanted you to see.
I guess the chart was too distracting.
Sorry.

Anyone? you got that answer.
Total Units? you got that answer 3 time for all 65 Corvairs.
Dates of production run for 1965? Sept 64 till sept 65, but I think you knew that.

All of this with out any explation as to why this information is needed, as you got what you asked for but it was not what you needed.

And what got me is that all the answers to your question can be had with a fairly simple google serch. and to top it off you were rude to someone that was tring to help you.

From his post, I thought he he was trying to determine the EXACT date his Corvair was assembled.

Which is not really possible without the build sheet - I think. Even then build sheets are not 100% accurate from what I vaguely recall reading

As was noted earlier in this thread, the most specific production information available (period) is found in "Corvair Gold".

Here's a more direct link to the download: Click Here

See page 27 and 28

You will need to know whether the 7th digit in your car's VIN is L or W and the last six digits of your VIN.

With that info, you can find the month your car was produced based on your cars VIN and the last VIN produced in a given month.

Using math (cars produced (last VIN minus first VIN) divided by production days in that month (28/29/30/31 minus weekends) to give you an average daily production number. Compare the starting VIN to your VIN (subtract) and divide by average daily production to determine the likely production day.

It really helps to goggle the actual month's calendar for your car's production (August 1964 to June 1965) so you can easily count production days while bypassing weekend days and possible holidays.

You can also look to your body tag which has the BODY production month and week (for example 10C means October, 3rd week) and add a few days to estimate the day it was completed.

Thanks cnicol. I did download the information.

Judging by the responses it is evident I did not express my question very well. I know how to read the Chevrolet VIN tag and the Fisher Body Tag. My question was not how to decode those, but if there was a was to tell by date where the plants were in the production run.
