Just wanted to share...
Those of us who have been around for a while will know this. However I wanted to share this issue that just popped up on Dainer's Rampside, with others.
I was returning home from a Cars&Coffee meet this past Saturday. The drive to Thousand Oaks is about 15 miles and over a twisty grade.
All went well, except I noticed a clicking when braking. It sounded like a lose wire wheel cover. Especially the Early style like I have on my 62 Rampside. However this sounded a bit louder. When ever I braked to slow or stop I got this clicking. Accelerating or driving steady there was no sound. I stopped for ga$
and did a quick wheel cover check. All was fine so I continued home.
So up on the EZ Car Lift the Rampy went.
Rotating the wheels, I checked the U-joints. Right side OK. Left side....
Yup, there was slop movement in two of the roller cups. But just slightly.
The fix was easy because I have spare yokes with new U-joints on hand. I like to have service parts ready, just for this kind of thing. I can chang e the joints at another time when I'm mucking around the man-cave.
I also took advantage of re-greasing the wheel bearings along with some other detail work while under the truck.
So the message here is, if you hear a clicking noise such as I described, don't just turn up the radio. Take a look at the u-joints before they get worse and possibly fail.

I suppose the progression is clicking, clacking, clunking... Good catch.
