() Date: April 02, 2022 05:58AM I’ve got a 1964 Rampside. The interior is fawn and white and I have the original steering wheel. The steering wheel is functional but not in great shape. My efforts to find a newer steering wheel have not turned up successful options. What steering wheels have others used that look sharp and fit the feel of the cab in a Rampside. I’m not looking for a resto groove. I want a solid, classic, 1964 Rampside vibe. Thanks in advance! () Date: April 02, 2022 10:41AM Eido, I installed an Early Model Monza wheel in my 1963 Greenbrier. ![]() Also, if you search these words "restore your original classic plastic steering wheel" it returns many resources to restore your wheel yourself, but also you'll find several guys that provide the service. () Date: April 02, 2022 02:21PM That Monza wheel fits your can nicely, Dan. I’ve heard the Monza wheels would fit an FC bit the once’s I’ve seen available all look too recessed/deep for the small cab. I’ve been nervous to buy one. Re: Alternative FC steering wheel Posted by:

I’m in Milwaukee. I recently restored one for my son-in-law's '66 GTO. It had 14 large cracks and two 1/2" chunks missing. I finished it in base/clear black and it was far more work than you would imagine because of the contours. I wouldnt do it again, even for a friend, for less than $500 plus materials. () Date: April 02, 2022 11:05PM Seth Emerson here has adapters. I installed the Corvair fake wood steering wheel in both of my FC's. One is a 62, the other a 64. I used original full size Chevrolet sport wheel adapters. The 62 I installed the 65-66 signal switch assembly and cone. That's another tech article. I would post a picture, but I'm still trying to figure out how to do that with this ChromeBook lap-top. There are however photo's in my "Dainers Rampside project post found here. () Date: April 03, 2022 12:25PM OK. I'm learning. Let's see if this works! ![]() I pulled this picture from one of my previous posts. It's already compressed to fit this format. This is the Corvair Sport steering wheel that I adapted to my 1964 Greenbrier back in the 1980's.. Others here have also done this. It's a nice option to the Stock wheel. Corventure Dave Yay. It did! ![]() Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/03/2022 12:26PM by corventure Dave. Attachments: ![]() Re: Alternative FC steering wheel Posted by:

() Date: April 03, 2022 02:11PM To each his own but dished steering wheel on a FC feels funny to me. I had a can of gray textured Rustoleum on the shelf so I painted my Van steering wheel with that. I had to do something because I sandblasted it and there was rubber underneath which would have stained my kit gloves. The sand texture provides a nice feeling grip. I wish I would have done the spokes and center with something else to match the Van colors though. Jim Brandberg Isanti, MN CorvairRepair.com ![]() Re: Alternative FC steering wheel Posted by:

() Date: April 03, 2022 03:52PM I had a wheel restored, and it came out beautiful. Problem is that the paint is so thick that when the seat belt buckle touched the wheel, it chipped it. It was a waste of money. I will do it myself next time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Woodstock CT... () Date: April 09, 2022 05:00AM So am I 100% better off trying to restore what I have than find a replacement? That’s the sense I’m getting. Eido Walny (Just north of) Milwaukee, WI 1964 Corvair 95 Rampside 1927 Tudor Model T Re: Alternative FC steering wheel Posted by:

() Date: May 08, 2022 10:24AM Working on my truck today and I’m really unhappy with the state of my steering wheel. Anyone have a spare steering wheel in fairly good condition that would fit my 64 Rampy?
