GONE!! 65 Coupe Shell - For Free - In Georgiasmiling bouncing smiley
Posted by: ihscomputers ()
Date: March 17, 2022 02:14PM

For FREE but you must come pick it up from my place in Box Springs, Georgia

The 65 Monza Coupe shell that was originally going to become the vairy nice V8 street car until media blasting revealed all the body damage.

Both warped hoods are included.

The back end was sectioned out to repair the other 65 body.

The trunk has had the bottom removed to accommodate a V8 radiator.

Floorboards are solid.

I could use that floor but you're 2355 miles away.

Dont like saying this but this car could probably help save a a few other corvairs with specific issues if cut up. Floors do look look good.

But nobody travels to get the big parts like floors. BTDT. Scrapped my fairly nice floor after 2 years or trying to move it to someone who could use it.

This would make a excellent start to a Vintage or other Corvair race car.
Please, aspiring racer, snap this up !!
Especially if you are attending the Convention in Peachtree Ga coming up soon. !!

Rephrase, NO ONE travels to southeast Georgia for any big parts. Proof is all the big parts that went to the scrap yard like floorboards and suspension crossmembers. Maybe somewhere some unique Corvair owner will travel for big parts, but it is not the norm.

Dean,
How is the metal around the lower windshield, and the lower left corner of the back glass? Are you in a hurry to clean out your shop, or would you be willing to hold on to the shell until after the convention?

Scott,

I can take some close-up photos of those areas for you, though I'm fairly certain that they are solid because the body was thoroughly media blasted revealing all the previously underlying damage.

Although I'd like to have the shell removed as soon as possible, waiting a few more months would be OK.

Scott,

Here are the close-up photos of the requested areas.

The front lower windshield area appears to have been "repaired" with brazed brass just like they used to repair the passenger side headlight bucket.

Although it looks ugly, the steel and brass are solid.

The lower left side of the rear windshield is solid.

Thank you for your pictures, Dean. As you can see from mine, I could definitely use parts from your shell. Lots of usual rust, plus heavy "perforations" around the front and rear windows, but it's an original paint car, don't believe the engine's ever been apart, so I think worth saving.

Due to budget constraints, limiting my ability to claim and remove your shell, please don't hold it for me if there's another that it could help sooner. I'll track this post, and work on options to remove it after the convention, should it still be available. Thank you very much for your kind consideration!

Bumping this thread to see if there is any renewed interest in this shell.

I need to make room for when the good 65 body returns from the body shop, hopefully by mid to late July...

Sorry, Dean, all my friends with trucks and trailers are spending their gas money to go to the Homecoming in the Detroit area, one week before the convention. Would have worked out sweet for my rusty Corsa, situation didn't work out.

Scott, I sincerely understand how the sky-high cost of everything, especially fuel, is hurting all of us and causing folks to cease all non-essential expenditures.

Hopefully, someone a bit closer to me will come get it in time.

Hi Dean.

I thought I just sent you a PM but it doesn't show that I did. If you don't get it let me know and I'll try it again. Or send me one back maybe I can reply. Thanks.

The 65 coupe shell is on its way to its new home...

Thanks for taking it off my hands so that I can make room to finish the vairy nice street car project!
