Cactus Corvair Club member Bob Rencenberger passed away recently and several club members have been preparing his two Corvairs for sale. At this time, his widow does not wish to be contacted directy about the cars so you will have to PM myself or member crodrigue here on Corvair Center and we can relate the details and arrange in-person showings.
Please see the two links below for dozens of photos plus one video. Pm me or ask your questions here.

For Sale: 1966 4-door Monza.
Rust free AZ car. Runs and drives great and has very few miles since the retsoration work was done. This is a running, driving car except for needing a new battery. I have been loaning one of mine while we worked on it and to do the test drives. The car currently has basic chrome wheels on it so we could drive it but the blue 14" rally wheels seen in some of the photos are what will come with the car. The chrome rims and tires are negotiable. The tires on the blue rims hold air but have aged out and two have flat spots. The interior is very nicley done in a 65 Corvair style even though this is a 66. Bob was building the ultimate Sport Sedan and put a lot of time and money into the little details. Clean AZ title. If you ever wanted a truely sporty Sport Sedan, this one can make that claim.

-Gary Sudbeck built the 140hp engine with rotated 4-carb setup and headers.
-Special built 4-speed tranny and posi diff by Bob Anderson of Tucson, AZ.
-Short throw shifter and Corsa chrome cover
-Quick steering
-Aftermarket AC with condenser in the trunk and blower under dash. New Sanden compressor (needs install completed)
-Corsa dash and glove box
-Azdave LED tail lights with flat lens covers
-Aftermarket vinyl seats and all new upholstery including headliner
-3rd tail light in rear window

What it needs to be completed:
-Various trim pieces that are included
-Needs new tires for the 14” rally wheels
-Needs paint but very little body work. Currently has primed doors and the body is in light yellow

Asking $7000

The white/blue 65 Monza coupe was in the process of becoming a sporty but road-legal autocross candidate. Bob was saving up parts to make it a Corsa clone with lots of performance mods planned. Like the 4-dr above, the engine was also built by Gary Sudbeck of Mesa, AZ but has not been started or broken in yet. It comes with a center mount carb setup. This car needs quite a bit of work to get it back on the road but other than some rust blems, is a solid chassis and a great candidate for restoration. The tranny and diff on this car were also rebuilt by Bob Anderson in Tucson. Clean AZ title.

Asking $5000

The sedan is really cool and has a decent price in todays market.

Great write up Dave. These are two solid, AZ Rust Free examples of the late model Corvairs.

The yellow 4 door runs and drives great. Fires right up and as you can see in the video, it will lay a couple of rubber stripes on the road. The steering & quick arms and short throw shifter take some getting used to but work fantastic. I love the saddle tan interior with the Corsa dash. The AC setup will be a great cruiser addition.

As for the white one, if someone wants to make a Yenko clone it is a perfect start. Another Rust free AZ car with some minor blemishes, but plenty of potential. Some assembly required.

Thanks Phil. These are both Southwestern desert cars with very low rust of course. If I didn't already have Cathy's 4-dr, the yellow Vair would be in my garage already. They've both been kept inside and even have car covers included with each sale. The cover on the 4-dr is a very nice thick multi-layer cover. The cover on the white car is a standard cover.

Since I can't easily edit my first post, I'll have to point out a typo.

The other member here that is helping on the sale is Chuck and his post is just above this one. His screen name had a typo in my first post. It is "croderique". Chuck did all the awesome photos and posted them on his Flicker account.

Here are a few photos of my own from when the 4-dr was at my house for a club tech session a few years back. It has been driven very little since then.

What does the A/C need to work.

Those are BOP rally wheels Y/N?

What happened that the doors went from being yellow to being primered? Parking lot fender bender?

The major two main A/c hoses are run rear to front and the condenser and fans are installed but I would say there are still a few weekends of securing components and securing it all permanently. The work in the engine compartment looks all finalized. Yes. The blue rims look to be standard GM 14" rallys.

As far as I know, Bob had simply started prepping the doors for paint. They are original doors, not replacements. You can compare the older and newer pics and see that Bob had removed the molded rub strips so my guess is he just started on the doors first for whatever reason.

Those blue wheels look to be Chevy wheels used for quite a few years. Some had trim inside the small holes, some with trim rings and various center caps that were used with or without the other trim.

I'm sure they fit many GM vehicles of that era. I think they are the same as the 14" Chevy rallys I had on my first Corvair back in the early 80's. I believe they came off a Camaro or Nova. They had the large beauty rings and the small trim rings in all the holes as seen in this photo.

I'm updating this sale thread.

The yellow Sport Sedan was sold and now resides in Ohio. Someone here bought it and had it shipped to them last month so they can continue the story on that 4-dr when they are ready.

The white 65 Monza is still for sale but I will start a new thread soon with better details. We recently met in-person with the engine builder and have new knowledge of the engine internals. We also got the car onto a lift and have lots more photos to share. Stay tuned!
