As far back as the rear wheels appear to be I would guess the engine is behind the cab. That is probably what the shirtless guy is looking at.

Yes.
I remember as a kid, ALL "proper" T-Bucket Roadsters, Sand-Rails, and fiberglass Dune Buggies used Beer Kegs as Gas tanks.
Anything less was just second-rate.

Yes, but it probably took several kegs worth of beer to come up with the idea of making an underpowered Rampside into a tractor to pull a trailer that is too small for anything useful.

When I came across the same FC Tractor Trailer I also snagged this photo:
