Wire Wheel Cover Needed
Posted by: RKF ()

I need one 13" wire wheel cover with a three prong spinner. This is to replace the wheel cover that came off of my Monza yesterday and was subsequently run over by a truck.

Not many replies.
I know I've got 12 and was thinking about selling some sets. I'll see if maybe I've got a lucky #13.
One set I have has the area behind the spokes painted red instead of black if someone is looking for something different.

Thanks Jim. If you do find a single wheel cover, I could sure use one.

Attached is the type of wheel cover I'm looking for. Lucky for me, there is a picture of it in the left column of this very web page!

Very common wheel cover back in the 70s 80s. But, they do fly off like when the wheel/tire hits a pot hole. I've chased many a one to get it back.grinning smiley

So, the big question, Roger, how much rim rash do you want on the replacement? I gave up on good looking ones, since I was using them on daily drivers back then.

Available in 13, 14 and 15". Used on most Chevrolet cars from 64 to ~69. In 67 the three prong spinner went away for safety reasons and a smooth cap was used 67 to 69. Other Chevrolets used a cog looking center in the late 60s. A different design wheel cover with a two prong spinner was used in 62/63. In 14" form these two prongs are very pricey for the Corvette crowd. IIRC, the ones with the four slots in the black area are the 13" ones. Are you at Hershey this week?

<<how much rim rash do you want on the replacement? >>

Frank, The Monza is a nice looking driver, so a decent driver-quality wheel cover would work. A little rash around the edges is fine.

Unfortunately not, but some friends of mine are. If you accidentally spot a wheel cover there, you can text me at 865-803-3412 and I can send a buddy by to look at it.

RKF,

My 66 came with 5 Wheel Covers and I'd be willing to part with one. Attached are photos so you can see its condition.

I just want a fair price plus shipping, Not really sure how to value this.

Thanks, gbullman. I'm not sure I could clean the rust spots off. I'll have to pass. I do appreciate it, though.

Still looking. . .

Gary, I see your cover has 8 slots. Does it measure 13" across the black rim?

Frank,

Not sure exactly where to measure, where the securing teeth are is a bit less than 13”. I hadn’t noticed before that it has more slots than the 4 that are on the car. Have no idea of the history of the cover, it just came with the car.

Hmm, I used to just look for 4 slot covers, but here is an 8 slot cover that is 13" (you measured right). Old dog, new trick...winking smiley

Maybe a different supplier to GM?
