() Date: September 18, 2021 10:28AM For autocross, 1.2 is the only ratio to consider, unless the course is long enough that cooling is a consideration... usually not. ------------------------------------ Kevin Nash Friday Harbor Washington 63 Spyder, Daily driver, EFI read about my project here: [corvaircenter.com] first test start on EFI here:[www.youtube.com] first official EFI boost test here:[www.youtube.com] My new fan! () Date: September 18, 2021 12:06PM Set at 1.32 now. Just installed this. Took off the spring tensioner. Running stock pulley now with belt guide at fan off set because of the size of the variable pulley. Belt guide at pulley. Belt tension set so i can turn alternator with my finger Don AKA (Polyvairist) Kansas City HACOA Broken Halo Corvair Garage 62 Rampside 62 Corvair Coupe (Flicka) 64 Spyder Coupe (Bill Pierson Car) 64 Monza Convertible,140/4 Speed,Electric Heat,Kelsey Hayes Wheels 64 Spyder Blown, (Dave Bolduc Car) 65 Corsa Convertible Triple Black, 140/4 Speed with A/C (aka Blackie) 65 Corsa 3.1 Liter Triple Weber (aka Unsafe) 66 Corvair V8 SuperVair (Created by Archibald Evans) 66 Avenger, Corvair Turbo, Fuel Injected, Air to Water intercool 140. () Date: September 18, 2021 01:46PM One of the other reasons to use the 1.2 or 1.25 ratio (with the "long" belt) besides lower power usage is that the idler pulley will end up way too forward with the 1.32. Also, the 1.2 ratio will have the fan belt height exactly the same as the stock pulley will. All of the other ratios mess with that belt height, and increase the chances for the belt coming off. () Date: September 19, 2021 10:17AM The bugger when they get geared down that far is that the car has to be towed to the course because the low rpm cooling is so poor. when they are fitted with a Nashfan, the car can be driven there, and if so desired, replace the stock pulley ratio with a 1.2:1 pulley and use less hp than a 1/2 speed pulley set-up can do (with the stock fan) then put the stock pulley back on and drive home ![]() ------------------------------------ Kevin Nash Friday Harbor Washington 63 Spyder, Daily driver, EFI read about my project here: [corvaircenter.com] first test start on EFI here:[www.youtube.com] first official EFI boost test here:[www.youtube.com] My new fan! () Date: September 19, 2021 02:19PM The Clarks number for the variable ratio pulley belt is here: [ssl.corvair.com] If you were wanting to try a 1.4 pulley ratio, there is a metric length 3/8 width belt that will work slick with that pulley ratio, but I dont know what the part number is. It is longer than the 56" stock belt, and shorter than the Otto "long" belt. ------------------------------------ Kevin Nash Friday Harbor Washington 63 Spyder, Daily driver, EFI read about my project here: [corvaircenter.com] first test start on EFI here:[www.youtube.com] first official EFI boost test here:[www.youtube.com] My new fan!
