1965 Corvair FC Electrical Chart - Chevrolet Service News

Hi all,

I found this chart in a reprint of an old Chevy Service News, buried in a stack of papers I got from my Dad.

It seems like such a schematic would be relatively rare for this model, so here it is. The full High Resolution file can be downloaded here.

Cheers

No problem.

The magazine actually has a lot of useful info in it--did you know that 1965-1966 heads are recommended to be bolted on at 35 foot pounds EXACTLY, not 40 (too tight, and was causing failures) and not 30 (too loose)? The magazine recommends readers update their shop manuals, which are published with a range of 32-38 foot pounds.

The rear engine mounting bracket is also highlighted as being labeled wrong in the manual. Manual says 40-50 foot pounds. In this publication GM urges that the two mount bolts be torqued to 25-35 foot pounds, and says, "correct the Corvair Manuals in your possession." Pretty direct.

In a neat piece of info, it also says the steering columns in a 1965 Corvair and a 1965 Corvette are virtually identical.
