() Date: September 14, 2021 11:00AM Sorry everyone but due to the forecasted NW hurricane headed our way for this weekend we have decided to cancell Corvair College once again. We'll call it a postponement and will schedule it for next year at the same place. Let's hope that 2022 will be much more favaorable for us. Regan Metcalf Portland, OR Re: CANCELLED!! () Date: September 19, 2021 12:10PM Well, the "High Winds" ![]() It was in one of our fields at the Marina. I noticed it had fallen on Friday, and stopped to look it over Yesterday at the end of the work day. As I pulled up next to it, I immediately noticed that every leaf on it was still green, but already dry and crisp. It is a large Poplar that had been growing on the bank of a man-made waterway. The base was on the other side of large growth of Blackberries, so I walked down the length of its trunk to examine where it had broken off. It seemed kinda strange that a tree would be dead before it hit the ground, and yet it had not appeared sickly, and hadn't even had time to lose its leaves. Well, I got quiet a surprise. The winds brought it down, because the trunk was chewed half-way through by a Beaver! I have seen more diversity of wildlife here than anywhere I've ever lived. But in the whole time I have lived here, I have never seen a Beaver around here. So the Great Hurricane of 2021, wasn't truly responsible for bringing down even one single tree! ![]() -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- WA. state, 1 mile south of the Canadian border, I am not at the end of the world, but you can see it from here. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
