Radio/Antenna Delete Plug

Hey,

Is there such a thing as an antenna delete plug for cars without a radio that goes in the hole where the antenna would normally go?

Thank you.

I don't know that GM ever made one, but I posted a picture of a MOPAR one a several years ago.
I was a small chrome plug that looked like the base of a Power Antenna with the antenna retracted.
I got it out of a U-Pull-it wrecking yard at least 30 years ago.

edit: here is one on ebay. $40.oo eye rolling smiley cheap compared to the one listed for $150.oo ! ! ! eye popping smiley

If there was no radio, there was no hole drilled.

For dealer installed radios, the antenna hole was part of the installation process.

I believe that there would not be a hole if there was no radio. Just as with the early cars there would be no radio pod if there was no radio.

My Corsa was delivered without a radio. It did not have the hole or any of the noise suppression items such as the ring inside the left front bearing cap, the capacitors on the voltage regulator and the coil.

My 69 Monza Coupe has no antenna hole as well as does not have the 3 small engine to body ground wires (in addition to the items Lee mentions).

You could probably go to your local hardware store and source a generic filler plug that might work.

Getting an accurate measurement of the hole diameter before you go would be a good idea.

I think 1" would be to small and 1-1/4" might be to large but wouldn't bet on 1-1/8" without measuring first.

P.S.

The plastic or nylon versions could potentially be painted to match the car if you wanted to make the effort.
While most folks probably wouldn't notice or pay any attention to such a plug, some will.

Think that might be a “missing in action” item.

My 65 Monza (PG with radio) did not have them either.

I recall the body tag had a code for front or rear antenna for Fisher Body to use during assembly. No code - no antenna hole was put in the body.

I came across this little "fake" antenna plug at a swap meet last year.

I use those filler plugs on my cars - a few of the cars at least, where I have gone to Radio Delete. They work fine - you may need to seal them though, or they let water in.
