() Date: April 05, 2021 08:32AM Looking for some guidance. Was thrown into having to replace the entire fuel system on the 64 Spyder Vert. Looking to use AN hose and fittings from Summit Racing. Going out of the new Clarks tank, I will be going into Clark's e-fuel pump and filter combo. Then from there down the length of the car and hope to use a firewall fitting on the front shroud. Then up to a Holley fuel pressure regulator, then the 90 degree into the stock turbo carb. Not knowing anything about AN, can someone tell me which size (-4,-8, etc) and which correct 90 degree fitting into the carb? Appreciate your help. () Date: April 05, 2021 09:38AM I believe the GF-99 fuel filter is AN-6. Is the carb the same? Re: AN Hose and Fittings Posted by:

() Date: April 05, 2021 10:03AM -6 hose is fine for any Corvair fuel system. Do you know the threads into the body of the Carter YH? Is it originally a pipe-thread adapter to an SAE inverted flare? The Holley regulator is a larger NPT, 3/8" NPT, as I remember. If you don't care much about stock, you can mount the Holley regulator on the bulkhead, with a 90 degree fitting on the bottom, aimed through the bulkhead. Run the hose from the existing fuel tube (outside of the engine compartment) Then you only need a short run over to the carb. () Date: April 05, 2021 10:22AM I have and still use AN hose but I use it sparingly as it has life span similar to rubber hose. If you have to, I would use the PTFE stuff with the teflon liner as modern gasoline is brutal on the inside of the hose. Just my $.02 I try to use as much hardline as possible and on my collector cars I use stainless hardline. Lee J Re: AN Hose and Fittings Posted by:

() Date: April 05, 2021 01:52PM I agree, Lee. The Teflon stuff is good, but hard to form (stiff) and really tricky to do terminations. (blood) There are several new hose types that are "said" to be ethanol proof, and can be used with the good fittings (37 degree AN). Look around, Curtis. I'm pretty sure you can find the better hose. () Date: April 05, 2021 06:59PM AN sizes are expressed in 16ths. A 6 AN is 6/16 or 3/8, 8 AN is 1/2, etc. AN is also known as JIC (Joint Industry Conference). It uses a 37 degree flare. SAE uses a 45 degree flare. Other than the #6 and #12, they use the same thread. Usually the 45 degree flare (SAE) is used in automotive and the 37 degree (AN) is used for industrial like hydraulic applications. Fuel lines in automotive has used both but technically should only use SAE. () Date: April 05, 2021 07:29PM This sort of fitting makes it easy to go from a hardline to an AN hose. [www.summitracing.com] In my case the ran the stock sized 5/16 tube to -6 AN hose. If you need to join two hard lines, then pre-made 5/16 hardlines with inverted flair fittings (like pre-made brake lines) and inverted flair female unions can be used to make the joints. You can also get compression fittings with a hose barb end to go from hard line to rubber. If you go with the nylon hard plastic lines like a lot of modern fuel injecton cars use, you can use 5/16 comprssion fittings, but need to make sure you get brass ferruls to insert into the plastic line so it doesn't collapse when tightening the compression fitting. If you are mounting the fuel pump under the passenger side floor, someone here mentioned using a bulkead fitting that can be mounted just behind the gas tank. I got some of these for mine. () Date: April 06, 2021 08:58AM @tony66 Are you referring to full nylon hose, or even the nylon braided stuff that is rubber hose on the inside? () Date: April 06, 2021 09:57AM Use Hard line for any long runs, like under the belly pan. Use bulkhead fittings on the front bulkhead and when you hit the rear bulkhead. Use flex, Teflon, for any short turns. There are adapter fittings that go from AN to NPT. You can use them where other devices are used. 66RTVair Oregon 1965 Corsa 140 stock 1966 Monza DP Racecar 1968 Monza Parts for now Re: AN Hose and Fittings Posted by:

() Date: April 07, 2021 07:03AM I used Copper/Nickel (Cunifer) on my long fuel line run. It is safe and works fine. I did hear that it doesn't last as long as SS. I guess I'll find out.
