Do people balance the halfshaft on our cars? Is it something that is do-able?
Reason I ask is I have had several sets of tires and wheels on my '65 Monza, and there is always a vibration on right side of car starting about 50mph.

Right now I have a set of 15 inch rally wheelswith new tires and, vibration is still there.

All rubber on car , motor mounts, bushings, etc. have been replaced.

I'm running out of ideas.

As Joel recently showed check the Balance of the brake drum only Old bubble balancer will show you. Any tire shop with newer balancer and a grinder can balance it.

!/2 shafts can are balanced by local Driveline shops.

No, I haven't tried a different axel. U-joints fairly new.
Swapping side to side might show something. We'll see.

I found my drums way out on the early racer, I first checked them on my bubble balancer and I’d couldn’t believe how bad they were so I took and checked them on a flywheel/crank balancer . That was one of the vibrations cured !

The factory weight was wrong ! it was easier to drill the weight off than get the weight off

You drilled a lot of holes. That drum was not even close to being balanced. I would never thought one would be that bad.

Bent trailing arm? - or whatever it is called.

Assume you have had a 4 wheel alignment done?

I have never seen an axle cause a vibration. It's low speed and small diameter would be not a likely source of a vibration.

Get a pair of half shafts made out of aluminum. They are much lighter and therefor have less mass to vibrate. of course they run about $300 or more each!

I have heard of guys unbolting them, rotating 180 degrees and bolting back up, to cure some issues.

Low Speed?
They are turning just as fast as your wheels are!
Or did you mean Low Mass and small diameter?

WA. state, 1 mile south of the Canadian border, I am not at the end of the world, but you can see it from here.

I think he ment in comparison to a standard driveshaft which turn 2.7-4 x faster than the wheels.

At 3500 rpm in final gear our half shafts are only turning at about 1000 rpm depending on diff ratio, compared to 3500 for a solid axle rear end's drive shaft.
