() Date: February 22, 2021 11:16AM The previous owner/ builder did this. I don't know why except that maybe they wanted the cockpit to be flush with the edge of the engine and out of the way> It is what it is for now. I'll see how it works once I am finished. Thanks for the comment. Mike Re: Open Wheel Corvair Project Car Posted by:

() Date: February 23, 2021 08:07AM How are the alternator and the fan powered? I see the fan belt running from the fan to the alternator but I do not see how they are powered. Rory 66 Corsa 63 Rampside Silver Spring, MD Re: Open Wheel Corvair Project Car Posted by:

I have to agree with the OP, it was most likely done to allow the engine to sit slightly more forward. It was probably easier to move the alternator, than it was to further modify the frame, suspension arms other assorted parts. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- WA. state, 1 mile south of the Canadian border, I am not at the end of the world, but you can see it from here. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Open Wheel Corvair Project Car Posted by:

() Date: February 23, 2021 01:35PM I built it all myself from a box of mandrel bent 1 1/2" tubing that I bought. It took alot of measuring and cutting and then TIG welding to get them all to look ok. Mike Re: Open Wheel Corvair Project Car Posted by:

() Date: February 23, 2021 01:37PM This was all built for the previous owner. The car was a parade car for an Indy 500 Shriner's Club. It won't be raced or driven much I just want it to be a Show car. Mike Re: Open Wheel Corvair Project Car Posted by:

() Date: February 25, 2021 09:33AM Am I mistaken, or will that alternator turn a bit faster than stock? Considering the drive ratios on the pulleys. Re: Open Wheel Corvair Project Car Posted by:
