() Date: February 21, 2021 01:08PM My '65 primary carb tops have what looks like sealed internal vents. My Rochester carb book shows vents to be open to (I guess) the bowl. Is this correct for '65's? () Date: February 21, 2021 01:25PM Do not know of any 65 carbs that have a hole where your arrow points. You are misreading the diagram or it is for a different year carb. The two vents (holes) to the fuel bowl are shown on the edge of opening in your pic. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/21/2021 01:26PM by RobertC. Re: Primary carb internal vent Posted by:

() Date: February 21, 2021 01:35PM Earlier models had the single vent. The slot in the casting, and the matching slot in the choke plate could stay the same in later models (which meant no extra cost for GM) so they just stopped extending the center hole into the float chamber and added the two others - As Robert mentions, on either side in your photo. () Date: February 21, 2021 02:17PM I've got about five different instruction/parts sheets for the Corvair carburetor and all of them have some item that disagrees with the others. It didn't help that GM revised the Vair carburetor almost every year! Buy Bob Helts Rochester carburetor book. Not perfect, but excellent overall and you won't anything better. () Date: February 21, 2021 02:40PM I've always considered that part of the casting as a piece of flashing that was destined to be removed. It really doesn't serve any functional purpose in the late carbs except to obstruct air flow. Though I'm guessing not enough to really matter that much but I just can't leave it there. Of course I like to remove all that choke crap too but that's another thing. Regan Metcalf Portland, OR Attachments: ![]() Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
