Hard shifting

My 1964 4-speed has been hard to find a gear since I pulled the motor and transaxle. Think I got the linkage to the shift rod back at same spot. Might just need the clutch adjusted but I have adjusted it several times. I can usually get it in gear if I put in a higher gear first. Any body adjust the linkage between the trasaxle and the shift rod to the shift?

I found this thread here a while back when I was having trouble getting a four speed shifter all lined up and shifting smoothly. Followed the author's instructions. Worked.

Is it the same or more difficult to shift with the engine running?

Experienced hard shifting in my '61.

A clutch disc installed backwards was my problem, I hope it isn't yours.

Long story why I know this, not easy to admit.
