() Date: February 18, 2021 07:53PM “The CORSA Board of Directors, just announced that the 2021 Convention has been cancelled. Unfortunately, we are not pushing San Diego back another year. The next time the convention is slated for the West Coast will be 2024.” If you hadn’t seen this, it was recently announced, there will also be update in the March 2021 Communique. Is it sad times, I feel for those that have suffered losses or personal pain during this pandemic and the cancelation of an event like this is trivial compared to some things, but it sad that life as we know it has changed irrevocably. () Date: February 19, 2021 06:56AM Problem I (and maybe who knows how many others) have is being left with an airline ticket paid for but unredeemable for cash. What other reason do I have for taking a flight? To where? For me, that's over $600 out the window, money I could now desperately use elsewhere. ![]() -Mark Re: Sad News, the 2021 San Diego CORSA Nationals have been canceled Posted by:

As Phil says, don't go by what's printed on the back of the ticket or in airline publications, that might not be up to date. These rules chanced (in your favor) with the Covid outbreak Re: Sad News, the 2021 San Diego CORSA Nationals have been canceled Posted by:

() Date: February 19, 2021 09:54AM I am one also out of pocket $600. My airline gave me a 2yr deferral to that event so disappointed. That money may help the airline, so a Covid supplement from me and many others ! Re: Sad News, the 2021 San Diego CORSA Nationals have been canceled Posted by:

() Date: February 19, 2021 09:59AM Airline Ticket Refunds --- A buddy had a non-refundable ticket last year and cancelled a vacation to visit relatives due to COVID outbreaks in the area he was flying to. He DID NOT get a refund or credit! While SOME air lines will give a refund or credit, it's up to a number of arbitrary rules. Last week our club said CORSA still had not made a decision to cancel the 2021 San Diego Convention and the CORSA board member who made the posts on the "other" forum was no longer on the board. Stay tuned. GWFBT -- So far it is still on. No the date will not be changed, or location moved THIS YEAR. The local clubs in S. Calif. are discussing possible changes for 2022. SCC car show. SCC club management won't put on a show if it would compete with the S.D. convention or severe COVID restrictions are still in place. So far the COVID "experts" don't know if enough folks will be vaccinated before the variant COVID strain gets going. With some luck things will be better by late summer. BTW the SCC show is outdoors so it would be easier to do, but would folks be willing to come and wear masks? Re: Sad News, the 2021 San Diego CORSA Nationals have been canceled Posted by:

() Date: February 19, 2021 11:03AM Corvair Society of America News Flash!! The 2021 CORSA Convention has been CANCELLED We literally had to stop the press on the March issue of the Communique to make sure that this announcement made it into that issue. An emergency board meeting was held on the evening of Monday, February 15th. At approximately 11:00 pm Eastern Time, the CORSA directors voted to cancel the 2021 CORSA convention in San Diego. With the host hotel still not being open or even returning calls and the unavailability of a suitable hotel in the area to accommodate the guests and the activities that were scheduled, the board was left with little choice in the matter. This decision did not come easily but with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic still dominating a significant portion of our lives, it was not practical or even possible to conduct an event like a CORSA convention without a proper venue for the activities scheduled. As the health of our membership is paramount, we made the decision. We apologize for having to make such a drastic move but it was in the best interest of the membership and CORSA. We will have more information about this in the April issue. As a partial remedy, we will be adding some additional activities and meetings to the Mini-Convention. A registration form for this event will be located on the cover wrap of the March issue, which will be in the mail soon. -MIKE HALL, PRESIDENT CORVAIR SOCIETY OF AMERICA (CORSA) ![]() ![]() 1960 4dr sedan caveman car 1961 Rampside (Chetside) 1962 Rampside (Barnside) 1962 Short Rampside (Shortside) 1962 Monza 700 Wagon 1963 Monza 900 coup (General Nader) ----------------------------------- Rust Free Lancaster Ca Re: Sad News, the 2021 San Diego CORSA Nationals have been canceled Posted by:

() Date: February 19, 2021 11:06AM Seeing how we are a year into “14 days to flatten the curve”, I would not count on any convention being held in CA even next year. Hopefully there proceed with the 2022 convention in Georgia. () Date: February 19, 2021 12:26PM From what I am hearing way up here. "Plan on three (yes 3!) years." Since I am getting that second hand, I can not swear to it. But due to my location, some of my friends are well connected with the ones making the calls, and that is what they are telling me. If you are a person that reads between the lines, here is some info to think about. Last week, I got a notice about what Governor Jay Inslee is doing for Pandemic Relief, in the State of Washington. In it, it stated that he had signed a bill that would increase the covid un-employment benefit amount effective July 1st, 2021. It doesn't go into effect until July ? ? ? ![]() That doesn't sound to me, that they plan on letting this thing up for quite some more time. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- WA. state, 1 mile south of the Canadian border, I am not at the end of the world, but you can see it from here. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Sad News, the 2021 San Diego CORSA Nationals have been canceled Posted by:
