() Date: February 15, 2021 04:15AM I have resisted activating mail on my cell phone (too much junk mail). May have to break out the old camera so I can download pics to my PC and try attaching.. My Alcatel $99 flip phone barely makes it to the lame category. But it does everything I want it to...talk and text is enough. Re: FS - set of 66 140 heads Posted by:

I am smart enough NOT to have a "Smart Phone" and am not held captive or imprisoned by my "Cell" phone like many folks seem to be these days. ![]() Although my 2002 Verizon 120E cell phone has text capability, I had the feature shut off since I don't have a data plan and no desire to send or receive texts. ![]() 1962 95 F.C. () Date: February 16, 2021 08:57AM If the junk mail is an issue. You can use something like Unroll.me to automate your unsubscription to all the spam emails. Alternatively, I know that in Gmail at least if you mark an email from an address as spam, it'll usually automatically send the rest into spam too. As for pictures, you don't have to email them to yourself. You can pull the pictures from your phone with your computer much like you would a camera. If anyone is unfamiliar with the process I can make a guide if there's interest. Nick Louisville, KY, US 64 Greenbrier Re: OT / but relevant :Let's talk Phones and pictures Posted by:

() Date: February 16, 2021 09:24AM You do not need Mail to download pictures from your phone into another computer, just use the charging cord on most modern phones. Once in the computer, just use IrfanView to size the pictures for whatever. I'm not imprisoned by a cell phone. I like to have shop manuals at the ready when I go work on other people's Corvairs. Just carry phone instead of pile of paper. Now to put the Technical Manuals in from the CDs. ![]() Frank DuVal Fredericksburg, VA Re: OT / but relevant :Let's talk Phones and pictures Posted by:

() Date: February 16, 2021 09:26AM My phone (iphone) does pretty great separating mail from junk mail. Junk goes into its own folder...I do scroll through every once in a while to be sure something didnt end up there, but then I empty that folder regularly. Though....I never clicked on a bunch of links, or signed up for a million email lists, or forwarded jokes around... Eric P. DeWitt, IA Re: OT / but relevant :Let's talk Phones and pictures Posted by:

() Date: February 16, 2021 11:15AM When I went back to work this time in January they gave me an i7. I thought maybe it would make me want to buy a smart phone. NOT!!!...all it makes me want to do is throw it in the ocean. Re: OT / but relevant :Let's talk Phones and pictures Posted by:

I've had no problems with dozens of systems.... some took longer to "master" but in the end were easy to use.. APPLE is NOT one of them. I've had to use the early Macintosh, now the apples. They just never get easy / intuitive. I luv the Android OS.....but recently I was given a FREE phone when I changed Cell Carriers. It was a cheap unit...did everything...BUT was a "slider screen" style and after a month I went back to my Motorola G6. I surrently have a sight problem which may have exaborated anything!!! () Date: February 16, 2021 01:20PM This is the phone I currently use. ![]() It does everything I need it to do. It makes phone calls. It receives phone calls. It has caller I.D. It takes messages. Beyond that, I don't need anything else from it as I have no desire to take photo's or text with it although it does have the ability to text. My phone plan is 19 years old and goes from month to month with no contract and is self renewing. The plan I have is no longer offered but it continues to be honored and since I am still relatively happy with it, I won't change it until I am forced to. Yes I get more and more stubborn as I get older. When I first got the phone, I would get the odd random text junk solicitation crap and it would cost me money to delete it even though I didn't read it. This is why I had the feature disconnected from my service all those years ago. 1962 95 F.C. () Date: February 16, 2021 01:28PM I use my old android smart phone as my shop camera and could use it to serf the net for metric conversions, oring sizes etc. I have wifi in the shop and can upload my photos to my gmail storage or email them to myself to make it easy to post later when on the computer. If you know someone who has a older smart phone they probably would give it away and it comes in real handy. Basically wipe phone so it just has basic operating system that is all that is needed. -Tom ![]() 63' Monza Spyder Convertable (in process) MY Build Thread 65' Monza MY Build Thread 73' NovaSS 454 Big block (Sold) 86' BMW 325es 98' VW Jetta TDI, for daughter 01' Audi Allroad Stage 3 twin turbo 67' UltraVan 211 "Violet" NFCC, UMCC Grand Island, NY Re: OT / but relevant :Let's talk Phones and pictures Posted by:

I call my old iPhone 4S a Micro iPad for the same reason. Works great on WiFi. Usually just use it for music source. Both internal stored music and internet music. Lots of great music sources on the net. Frank DuVal Fredericksburg, VA Re: OT / but relevant :Let's talk Phones and pictures Posted by:
