() Date: February 14, 2021 07:43AM [baltimore.craigslist.org] This morning I ran across a new listing for a "Corvair" hood being advertised locally. It certainly does not look like a Corvair hood to me in any way, shape, or form so I thought I might post it and ask if anyone recognizes what it's actual application might be. Once again, it appears that someone has a part they are unsure of so it gets advertised as a Corvair part..... Here is a cut and paste from the ad along with two of the five photo's that were in the listing. () Date: February 14, 2021 07:58AM It's a front tilting hood. The hinge mounts are toward the front edge. That should narrow it down. -Travis '65 Corsa; '63 Convertible; '62 Wagon; '65 4 Door Heart of America Corvair Owners Assocation (Kansas City, MO) [www.hacoa.org] Re: OT: Does anybody recognize what this hood may fit? () Date: February 14, 2021 11:24AM The front hinged aspect seems to incline it to a European car. The dark green seems to incline it to a late 60's thru 70's car. I searched Google images under a variety of terms and came up with nothing. Thought it might be a Lancia Biturbo, Jenson Interceptor of some other V-8 enhanced European car..., but NO. it will be interesting to see what it is. Also leaning towards it being an import. I agree. I even thought maybe the late 60's Sunbeam Alpine (looks like a 1st gen Barracuda). But, no, it has rear mounted hinges. It's not a rover TC either. () Date: February 15, 2021 12:43PM Well I guess that is solved. Now I am thinking of calling the individual that posted it and let them know what it is. I did save the contact number. ![]() Follow up, I just called the person that posted it and let them know the application. Apparently the hood came with a bunch of parts in a bulk purchase and they were told it fit a Corvair. The individual was appreciative of the information and can now advertise it accurately. Thanks for the help. ![]() 1962 95 F.C. Van 1964 Greenbrier Deluxe 1965 Monza Coupe 1965 Monza Convertible Westminster, Maryland MID ENG enthusiast & prior Kelmark owner. Edited 1 time(s).
