True, the pics show a lot of corrosion. I’ll take pics and document when I pick it up. Going to try to keep it as simple as possible to show new corvair people what to expect.

Worn valve guides in turbo heads can be an issue.
Is it true that the guides were installed and then final drilled concentric with the seats so if you install new guides without doing seats they may not line up?
I've got 2 pairs of turbo heads in the Machine Shop awaiting assessment.

As was mentioned, yes. That is also why I will use bronze guide liners instead of just replacing guides.

If doing bronze liners, be careful to not split the thin cast iron guides.
If doing valve seats, it makes better sense to install new high quality Aluminum Bronze guides. then
Since the seat replacement will be concentric.
And will conduct heat into the head much better.
As GM found on the Turbo head exhaust valves.
NOT silicon bronze, which is commonly sold as a viable replacement.

If you replace the guide and then the seat to make the seat aligned to the valve how do you know that is correct? I'm getting ready to setup my shop for head work and I would think the correct way to do it would be to put the guide where it should be so that the valve angles and tips end up in the correct location so the rocker arm geometry is correct.

Oooo! I wonder who was right for myself, I'm running a 95 horsepower on the driver's side and a turbo on the passenger side. Any danger of one side being closed valved and the other being open?

The plan is already changing. 140 heads with the 180 manifold??? Tried a search nothing came up.

Yes the 68-69 Smog head is open chamber and the same head for 95 and 110. 95 gets flat pistons and 110 gets domed pistons.
Horrible head for their intended purpose but I could see using one on the left side of a turbo engine if it CCs the same. Some differences from open 65-66 turbo head like guides but I've done worse things in a pinch.
Generally when people speak of using 95 heads on a turbo it's the 65-67 variety with a quench.
I believe when we were discussing 95 heads a few weeks ago it came down to some typos in the Junkyard Primer book.

I have a turbo engine here that someone else built using 140 heads with the compression reduced and the Secondary ports blocked off. I've never run it and don't know how he went about reducing the compression. If he just used thicker gaskets it sort of negates the squish effect.
