This thread isn't mine but I'm working on one and I put it under the back seat.

Is there enough space under the back seat? Did you drill a big hole in the firewall for the wire harness? Does the engine bay get too hot for the ecu?

Thanks! I put the ECU inside the cabin behind the backrest of the rear seat. It is a Megasquirt ECU and at the time I ordered, they only had these tall boxes in stock. That is what is shown below. Since then I switched to a shorter black box that has a little more breathing room with the seat back up. I put a hole and grommet in the firewall kind of near where the main wiring harness passes by above the left rear wheel (this is a LM coupe). The Megasquirt wiring harness is just zip tied to the main harness and passes into the engine compartment through the same grommets as the main harness.

Ken,do you have a zoomed out picture of how you routed your wires?

When mounting under the seat you have to be careful on where the seat bottom bars and springs come down so you don't squash the components. I hugged the front and side of the well with the wires, then halfway up the back and through a grommet to go across to the engine compartment under the drain tray. Down through the floor into the tunnel with the wires going forward.

Here is a more recent photo with the low profile MS box. Other gadgets are the wideband O2 sensor controller and relay panel. Ken

One more question. How do you get to the ecu for maintenance? That location is behind the shelf panel and its not quickly removeable..

Well, I haven’t crossed that bridge yet. I plan to make a custom shelf panel or modify a stock replacement by cutting away some of the insulation. Everything fits below the level of the metal crossbar.
