() Date: January 10, 2021 11:44AM I’ve been here @ Mecum for the last three days and this GB is no where to be found... Lot#T214. Even had a Mecum employee drive me around the whole property. Perhaps not here yet but everything on either side of its auction position seems to be. Was hoping to see this “standard” for GB restorations. () Date: January 14, 2021 02:46PM I don't care about the price (no, I did not buy it). That is the nicest FC I have ever seen and judged at the convention Concourse. I first saw it in Ventura and judged it at Tacoma. Re: 1965 8 Door Greenbrier at Mecum Kissimmee sold for $104.5k!!!! Posted by:

() Date: January 14, 2021 03:46PM Dammit, stupid computer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Anyway, what I had written out was that were it up to me, I'd have it converted back to pure stock, from the block codes up. So stock that it would pass the Larry Claypool strictness test. Face it, a '65 8 door deluxe is as rare as hen's teeth. So a bucket of money could be thrown at it and you wouldn't lose a dime. It would be a one of a kind. I think that there should be at least ONE example of what the FC was like in its most pure stock form. I think it's a crime of unspeakable magnitude and a horrible tragedy that a pure stock example of it would not exist. And there but for the will of a past owner goes possibly the last chance of it ever being again. -Mark Re: 1965 8 Door Greenbrier at Mecum Kissimmee sold for $104.5k!!!! Posted by:

() Date: January 14, 2021 04:18PM Wow. I have a 65 deluxe 8 door in much rougher shape. I might actually be able to restore it and at least recover my money. I would never be able to restore one to the level of the one sold though. Impressive! Congratulations to the seller. () Date: January 14, 2021 04:44PM At all these auctions with all the hype, the booze and the deep pockets you don't have to do "anything right". People bidding don't care about "right". We all know stock doesn't sell because most people either don't know stock, don't care about stock and don't want stock.Wonder where and at what auction it will show up? () Date: January 14, 2021 06:35PM Yea, Matt. They sold it for a mint! Hey, maybe I can sell that old hatchet I have. You know, the one George Washington used to chop down the cherry tree with. I've used it for years, great little tool. I've had to replace the head twice and the handle three times, but it's the same hatchet that Washington used! Bet I could get a mint for it just like the 'Brier owner did! ![]() -Mark P.S. The point here is that stock vehicles usually, eventually, end up bringing a higher value than modified/custom ones do. And the rarer a vehicle it is the greater the difference. Besides, who in their right mind would do the above with Washington's hatchet? All of which is why the fastest appreciating cars on the market are the unmolested originals. Bottom line is, customs are a dime a dozen, stock (particulary) originals aren't.
