Mid Engine V8 Car in Raytown (Kansas City) for $3,750.00
Posted by: Caraholic4life ()

[kansascity.craigslist.org]
I saw this car on craigslist recently and thought I might share it here.
Here is a cut and paste from the ad but there is not much information and only a few photo's.

1965 Chevrolet V/8 Corvair Corsa. - $3,750 (Raytown)
Selling my corvair. V/8 midengined conversion. 350cu. 4 speed Saginaw. Disc brakes, no rust. Runs and drives. Clear title.
Call Eight,One,Six-Two,One,Five-One,Eight,Two,Two.
These photos were taken at car wash and it was wet and shiney. Black flat primer is color. Red is original color.

The only other photo in the ad showed the passenger side which appeared to be straight.
Yes it is a mess, and would be a lot of work but....it might be worth a look for the right person.

The headers are not Crown Corv8 headers.

No, The headers do not appear to be the Crown style but then again,by looking at the photo, I don't think the car has a Crown conversion in it.
It could be a Kelmark version judging by how far back the engine is sitting but I could be wrong about this too.

The driver's side header looks like it is cut off above the package tray.

Crown uses the Corvair trans mount crossmember which is missing in photo. Did Kelmark use the Corvair x-member?

It starts and drives on the street. How many engine swap Corvair project cars ever make it that far? 1 out of ten I would guess.

It almost looks like one that a member here on the Kansas side had for sale. That was before the 2017 convention so it's possible this could be the same one but a different owner.

Too bad the front panel is butchered up so bad. Most guys (me included) open up the area below the bumper and find that it provides sufficient cooling.

When I got my Kelmark car back in 1983 the builder had drilled 1" holes in the area above the bumper but was unsuccessful at getting them aligned well enough to look decent. Before I painted the car, I replaced the front panel which at the time cost me $75.00 for the part then cut openings under the front bumper.

IF the same scenario were to occur today, I would have a custom billet grille fabricated to fit in that area to look like it belonged there.
It appears that on this car, the edges of the opening may have been prepared for some sort of grille insert.

Looking closer at the photo, it also appears that the wheel openings have been enlarged.

AH HA - you may be on to something. I remember a V8 on a trailer for sale at the Independence Convention. I had pictures of it on my phone, but can't see to find them at the minute. This could be that car -I seem to remember it being a CORSA (By VIN / Data plate) and it was set up for dual batteries in the former engine compartment.
