Need pictures.. of "as installed" wastegate on your Vair

If you have installed a wastegate on your Vair, can you post pictures of your install. I will be adding one this winter and I'm looking for mounting suggestions.

Thanks -

it will work on ether side of the cross over pipe Phil has his on the driver side mine is on the right side before it enters the pipe up to the turbo. put your car on ramps or hoist and hold it up were you like it mark the spot and getter done , it might be better on a ramp for location because the suspension will be loaded . I will try to get a picture today.

Closer to the actual turbo in the up pipe is more optimal.

The only thing you may want to do rather than route just to the outside is to route the exit to the muffler inlet side.

When that valve opens it gets loud. First time it happens will scare the sh-t out of you!

Alec & Ken are so right. Even on an open Sandcar it needs to be routed AWAY from passengers..

Let's not get confused here. What Matt is showing is a blow of valve, not a waste gate and it should not not be used as one. That thing goes on the intake and is completely unnecessary on a draw through turbo setup lounge stock corvairs use or anytime you have the carb before the turbo. On a blow through setup you do need a blow off valve to prevent damaging the turbo whenever the throttle slams shut.

I changed the SUBJECT for that REPLY to stress the need to TEST ANY "Pressure Relief Valve" you install. Especially now that offshore parts abound.

Sorry, I didn't see the possibility of confusion!

I Did Change the subject and marked it "OT"

This mounting position is close to "optimum" as it allows for a smooth flow from crossover pipe into the wastegate... quick response. Late model so not my wastegate install.
