Someone missed a decimal point, big time, hope you get them before they figure it out.

They are made near where I live, drop ship a lot of from right from the plant.

I had some Walmart batteries that had two little square vent holes on the ends. I used heat shrink and tubing to act as the original battery vent.

There was no grommet used for the battery vent hoses on 1964 Corvairs. There was a small oval hole punched in the back wall of the battery box through which the two hoses rather snugly passed.

Interesting.

The Walmart site does not give much information, but elsewhere you can discover that the 353 is a wet (filled) battery. This makes me wonder if these may be batteries that have been sitting around for a long time and are near the end of their lifespan. Well, $10.83 was cheap enough for me to order one to satisfy my curiosity.

Even if Sears is carrying them at the same price, something is still not right.
Why would they sell them at that price (with free shippingeye popping smiley), when the price is lower than some places pay for CORES? confused smiley
There is more than $10.oo worth of Lead in there. eye rolling smiley

Mr. Hubbell, if you find a group 53 battery, do you have a pair of the vented push in top caps.

Yes, I have several.

However, as I’ve indicated previously, they were not introduced until approximately January of 1964. The Glenn Corvair was built in September, 1963, so it does not use the vented caps.

Looks like "shop eddies" is the secondary seller on all of these listing. they appear to have an eBay page and are based out of Sarasota, FL. BBB has a few complaints and their eBay page doesnt seem too bad. However, as the saying goes, if its too good to be true, it probably is. I'm curious to see what becomes of those $11 battery orders. Keep the rest of us updated.

Here is the $10.83 “battery” eye popping smiley

Funny - it doesn’t look anything like the picture.

Glad I didn’t order a bunch of them.
