FOUND!! 95 HP heads for my UV
Posted by: toms73novass ()
Date: November 12, 2020 05:38AM

Does anyone have a set of 95HP heads for sale? I am thinking of replacing the 110 heads on my UltraVan.

I would prefer LM Head numbers 3856743 , 3883862 , 3878569

Thanks
Tom

64?
65?
66-67?
Rebuildable cores or deep seated and ready to bolt on?
Be advised shipping will be in the neighborhood of $75.

If your 110 heads are good or if they have already had the guides and deep seats installed...
I would CC the combustion chambers down to the same volume as 95hp heads.
I did this with my Greenbrier heads 125,000 miles ago.

The only issue with that is the piston to head clearance, it will still tend to spark knock and the power will be down.

Ken I know that you have way more experience than me. I the 64 110 heads had a much larger piston to head clearance than the 65 and up 110 heads. I think the 65 type are closer than the 95s

What number UV do you have? Pretty nice?

I did some mechanical work on UV 420 and thought what a daunting task they could be. Mechanic, carpenter, electrician, plumber, sheet metal worker, heating and air, upholsterer, carpet layer...

I have UV211, the last EM that is know to exist. Built in Oakland, CA and finished in Hutchinson, KS.

I will need all the skills you mentioned. It sat for many years and got wet inside so it is a total gut job.

I have already redone front and rear suspension and gutted interior.

It will have a more modern take on the interior....

Are the left rear and right rear body panels made out of fiberglass?
If so, that's new to me.

Yes, almost all UV's front L and R and above windshield and rear L and R are fiberglass. There are very few exceptions.

Actually all 4 corners are fiberglass. The Ultra factory didn't have big presses to stamp the sheetmetal. There are a few compound cruves in there and very hard to get aluminum to draw that way.

LM rear suspension turned around?

I always thought it would be a trip to form the interior paneling to the curved corners.

Is this by any chance from Hayward, Wisconsin? I met a guy at a UV event in Rochester, Minnesota who was reconfiguring the suspension.
There was another one that recently left MN North Shore for back east but I thought that was newer.

I'd sure be interested in following this project as you go along.
It's pretty cool that you're saving one with the historical significance. I can imagine the early suspension may have been a bit of a fright show.
