A Corvair Coinicidence Run has been planned by Richard Payne for today. However we have rain coming down on us this morning. Rick and I are not interested in taking our Vairs through the mountrains in sporadic heavy rains. We shall see what happens at 8:30 when everyone gathers at the Smokey Lodge.

It didn't. We didn't go the run. Staying in Maggie Valley to visit Wheels through Time museum, flea market and a couple shops.

About 10 Vairs did go out on the run.

About 9 Vairs and three regular vehicles went on the run. We left Smoky Falls Lodge, drove thru Cherokee and into Bryson city. After a quick restroom break, we proceeded in light rain to The Road to Nowhere. At the end of the road is a 1/4 mile long tunnel that cars are not allowed in but foo traffic is permitted. The road was supposed to connect Bryson City to Deals Gap, but was abandoned y the Federal government. No plans to finish the road were ever made. We dodged some of the rain in the tunnel. We departed the tunnel and went back into Bryson City for lunch. After a 1.5 hour lunch beak, we met up and departed Bryson City for Sylva, were we overlooked the train wreck from the 1993 movie, The Fugitive. The locomotive engines and the bus are at the site of the actual filming of the crash. After departing Sylva, we made another gas stop and bathroom break in Culhowee, then proceeded to Jadaculla Rock, an ancient rock with petroglyphs made by the Cherokee Indians. From there, we headed back to Smoky Falls Lodge. I want to thank everyone who went along and all the positive feedback!
