Those don't look like any Corvair ignition locks I've seen.

They look like door locks. Not sure if they look like Corvair door locks though.

Here's an image from Clark's that clearly shows what the EM lock should look like.

Joel:

That is the type lock I remember for Chevys up to 1964.

But every where you look on line it is for 61 & 62 Corvairs or 62 Corvairs. Who is the expert on this? Someone with a 61 or 62 Corvair stock from factory still would be nice to answer this one.

Everywhere online also lists radiator caps for Corvairs. '60-'64 Corvairs use the one like I pictured. I have a few and they all look the same.

I've had both 61 and 62 model Corvairs with low miles. They had the normal pooched lip ignition switch, just like my 62 and 64 Biscaynes.thumbs up

How else could I drive them without the key?winking smiley

My 65 and later full size Chevrolets and Corvairs had the flat front ignition switches.

I've seen a flat front n an early, but clearly a replacement cylinder, as it was an A blank (1967 keyway).

Agree.
All my EM's had the ignition switch with the ears that allowed you to operate the ignition without a key, as long as you did not move it to the "Locked" position.
I liked that feature, I really wish they had carried that over into the lates! sad smiley

Just because the original lock had ears, it doesn't mean an aftermarket unit has to have them. As others have noted, there were tons of different applications for the US-22L replacement part. The question is, will it slide into place in a 62 switch assembly and function - as an ignition switch. Maybe not having the ears is a good anti-theft mechanism. No key- no go!
