Is anyone aware of a steering box repair kit for a 1962 Rampside or do you just
take it apart and buy what you need to fix it? Thanks.

I am not aware of a kit. Mine I just disassembled and evaluated what was needed.
I also like having a spare to rebuild at my leisure. That way I can just swap it with the original, making the job a lot quicker and easier, getting back on the road right away.

Does the FC steering box bear a close resemblance to the mid to late 1950 Chevrolet passenger car boxes like the rest of the front suspension? Might look at that aspect.

Over the decades, I have never ran across information on a non Corveir FC steering box that will interchange or have internal parts that may be used.

However, there have been so many used rebuildable FC box's.... I believe there has been vary little research into looking into alternatives.

The FC steering boxes are super heavy duty for the size and weight of the truck. They are simple to rebuild just like the cars.

An anecdotal observation of mine is that when I had a lot of weight in my Corvan, the steering became very heavy / hard. Don't know if there was anything wrong or not because normal steering returned when the weight was removed.
Maybe (if the circumstances ever happen again) I should add more air pressure in the front tires.

Mine is working fine, just leaks oil. Probably just needs new gaskets.
