Always good to TITLE the thread to reflect what it's about or its # is.

Looks he has or had a heater hose rubbing his axle. Anyone tell him?

He looks to be leaking oil. There is a trail leading up to his 'vair. Also, isn't that belt on his working engine incorrect? His style doesn't sit as low as the ones without teeth.

He is definitely on a learning curve, but when I was his age I was just as inexperienced. He could use a good Corvair mentor with patience.

Our club always likes to see younger folks show up with a Corvair, but they often don't last due to the demands of keeping a Corvair running, or the cost of repairing an engine or transaxle.

The good ol days of finding a good used engine or transaxle to cheaply swap in and get a Corvair on the road are just about gone.

Yes J.O. that worn axle half shaft needs attention.

Teeth or not isn't the issue, it's belt width.

ALL parts-store catalogs are wrong in that they list 15/32" or 7/16" belts for Corvair while the correct width is 3/8". With the correct width, the belts ride deep in the pulleys, which reduces the likelihood of "climb out" and the idler lands in the right place for pulley alignment.

Before you guys criticize too much, remember this, Kyle received that engine in the state you first see it in the video.
The PO provided the "original non-running engine" when he purchased the car.
From the cars sitting in his garage, Kyle has eclectic taste in cars, and is not likely to burn out on the Corvair anytime soon. cool smiley

That was in reference to 66vairman's comment, "Our club always likes to see younger folks show up with a Corvair, but they often don't last due to the demands of keeping a Corvair running, or the cost of repairing an engine or transaxle."
Personally, I don't understand it.
The only way I see someone walking away from Corvairs, is if they were never really "INTO" them in the first place.
I intend to own at least one up to the day I die.
Even if I am past the age of driving, I will at least go sit in it and "Play Cars" like we did when we were little and pretended to drive our parents cars. (or is that something only I did when I was young? Anyone else play in their parents cars?)

My parents have a story about not being able to find me when I was 2 and I ended up being in the car. I'm not sure how I managed to get in the car but I guess I was determined.
