cylinder head temperature gauge

I'm looking to get a cylinder head temp gauge 0-600 degrees, but I don't want to spend the big money for some that I found on a web search. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Clark's Corvair Parts offers head temp gauges set up for Corvair use.

I have a cheap digital gauge coming, $12. I'll post results. Clark's Corvair parts were +$120.

Today you could take a BBQ thermometer and mount it on the engine. Then get a cheap camera that connects by Bluetooth and "broadcast" your temperature reading to your dash mounted phone. So, yea, "there could be an App for that."

I'm being facetious of course but there are different ways of accomplishing a similar task.

I'm still working on the $12 temp gauge installation, maybe today. I'll send the results if it does work.

Found this gauge online. Like the Clark's gauge it uses a sender that attaches beneath the spark plug. This one is primarily for VW's but you can order a 12 or 16 foot sender/wire. Cost is similar to Clarks, so I'd probably go with them if I was looking for a gauge. Prefer to keep our Corvair suppliers going.

I believe the gauge in my son's Corsa dash is good (there is a test in the FAQ) and we were fortunate to pick up a thermister. Since he has a Monza 140, we'll have to run the wire to the gauge. That's on the list after a reseal!

Fred, looks like a decent gauge system to monitor the head temp.

I made the gauge conversion and wired it in. Unfortunately the extension wiring for the sensor did not work out. I ordered a 10 ft sensor due shortly. I'll send photos after it works, with links,.
