() Date: August 11, 2020 06:56PM This past year I purchased a 1965 Corsa 140 Convertible. Regal Red, red interior, white power top, rear antennae. Turns out the data plate is on the left side of the rear rail and is the 50th car built that year. I wondered if there are others out there like this or if this is one of the earlier produced survivors. I cannot imagine there were many Corsas made in LA in 1965 and I wonder if this is one of the first of those. Car was built 09B Let me know what you all have seen. Thanks Attachments: ![]() Re: Low Number LA Build Data Plate Posted by:

() Date: August 11, 2020 07:39PM Matt, I was recently up in OR and had the chance to meet with Duane and saw the Pilot Car he is preparing to restore. Those seem to be loaded up with options to determine how they would go down the line with the assembly process. The car never left SoCal until I brought it to Napa. () Date: August 11, 2020 07:41PM The date is too late to be a pilot but an early build. That body number means its the 50th 1965 model year Corsa convertible off that line. The body numbers on LA cars reflect that plant only just like the body numbers on Willow Run cars reflect that plant. From what I recall, the LA plant started building cars later than Willow Run. I would assume the last 6 of the VIN is relatively low as well. Lee J Re: Low Number LA Build Data Plate Posted by:

() Date: August 11, 2020 07:47PM Here is a picture There is no rust, a few bumps and dings. I also have a 65 Turbo from the LA factory as well - #697 built 04C. The data plate on this car is on the right side of the rear rail. Like every other 65 I have seen. As for build peculiarities on #50 I would say there are more gaps in the panels with less body sealer used. Attachments: ![]() Re: Low Number LA Build Data Plate Posted by:

() Date: August 11, 2020 08:06PM By the time the Turbo was built 04C - it was 697 and #21712. So they were keeping busy building Corvairs in LA although only about 230 or so were Turbo Convertibles. Re: Low Number LA Build Data Plate Posted by:
