If you have an old distributor lying around, you can gut it and pull the gear off the shaft.

As mentioned, take the gear off, then I put a short piece of rubber hose on the rotor end of the shaft and a 1/4" socket that fits in the other end of the hose. Use hose clamps to clamp the shaft and socket to the hose. A 1/4" socket driver in a drill will spin the pump and give a flexible coupling. You don't even have to gut the distributor, just take the gear off.
