So sad to hear. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but he actually passed away in May. I sure enjoyed visiting with him at the last two conventions. He will be missed.

I met John at my first Corvair Club meeting sometime in early 1972. Herb Berkman and I were both newbies that day and John welcomed us to the club.

That is very sad and truly a loss for the San Diego CC. JJ was one of the co chairs of the SD convention. I enjoyed hanging out with him in Pittsburg as well as last year in Chicago. Not to mention every year in Palm Springs. Condolences to his friends, family, club members, and all of us. A loss for sure.

I was surprised to read in the new COMMUNIQUE that John had died. Sad to hear I have known John since 73 and he was just a nice guy and a Corvair patriot.

Condolences to his family, he will certainly be missed.

best wishes, Steve

Oh my gosh ! I was shocked to read this about John today. I didn't know him well, but when I bought a rebuildable engine from him a few months ago, he was a real gentleman & gave me a great price on the engine. A week or so after that, he remembered that I had noticed that he had a Weber carburetor on a shelf when I picked up the engine. He GAVE the carb to me. Boy ! what a guy ! He & I both had similar histories with Corvairs. He remembered Herb Berkman from back in the 70's, as did I. Boy, this really hit home for me. I'll miss him, as I know a lot of others will too. He & I are / were about the same age too. My most sincere condolences to the Johnson family. Doug Ward

I had communicated with John numerous times this past year about my fan presentation for the now canceled convention, and this was the only way I knew him. I was looking forward to meeting him. Its really tough to hear about this, and a reminder of how we just don't know when its time to go.
He will be missed!!

Sad news indeed, Our condolences to his family and friends. John went out of his way and helped my wife and I get registered for the Toss once, as we were having issues being from Canada.
