Washington DC group

Hello everyone !

I’m planning on seeing a car in Potomac Washington DC next week or the week after (I’ll update once a date is officially set). Now, I don’t have too much knowledge on Corvairs so I was wondering if anyone in the area would be willing to come with me to inspect it.

If you all have any questions just ask.

Thank you !

Temple (Berks county), PA

Post the ad and or photos of the car. We can start at that point.

I assume that's Potomac MD, just outside DC.

Being we are a small close knit group some may even know the car or the seller (?) Just a thought.

I've emailed the NVCC email list, but having the ad information would help.

Alright, thank you. I’m still working out a date to do so but I’ll most definitely let you know.

now the add has been expired off the website but the seller said it's still available. this was what was in the description of the add:

"Selling my 1965 Chevy Corvair. I was planning an electric conversion, but don’t have the time now.
This car turns heads everywhere it goes. It’s in great condition, no rust, runs and rides smooth. It has new shocks, new rims, new locks, new weather stripping, clean interior, I replaced some hoses to fix oil leaks, but otherwise all original engine parts.
Clean title in hand.
Car also comes with original owners manual, repair manual, a few parts, and the stock rims.
I’m asking $7000 obo. I really just want it to go to someone who will appreciate this for the classic that it is. Any questions please ask."

Apparently all it needs is a new horn.

So I asked him & he said he himself is not a member of any Corvair groups.

Looks like a very nice car. Now the question that I have not seen posted is have you ridden or driven in a Corvair? Not that it matters as your first car (for me) it could have been the worst feeling car in the world but it would have been great for me. The car is not going anywhere if the ad is down so take it nice and slow. A $7k price tag is nice but I would think closer to $5K. Take picture of your first ride so you can remember 20 years from now!!!

Nope I haven’t driven one of them yet but I have my heart set out to. & I’ll definitely take a picture ! In regards to the price I told the seller I only have $6,000 as of right now so he said he would give it to me for $6,500 so we’ll see

If I get someone to check & it is in good condition should I still try to get the price lower ?

Car was for sale for quite a while on Craigslist in Southern Maryland. I think they were only asking 4500, in the same condition as present. Flipper alert!!

Needs more than a horn. New headliner definitely. Take a good look around the window. I suspect some rusting is there also. No rh vent window handle, no vent pull knob. Missing rocker trim. Why the dark area on rocker in front of left tire. Not related to shadows, as sun is hitting where it should be in the sun and be the same color.

I would say this one has issues, if the little things haven't been taken care of.

Also never ever tell the seller how much you have to buy a car especially if that is what you have saved.
