What is the best way to pack up an alternator to ship it across country?

I've got an alternator for Craig that I have to pack up and ship.

What is the best way to pack up an alternator to ship it across country?

Can I leave the fan and pulley on it?
Or would it be best to remove them?

How do I protect it and what else do I need to do?

Thanks,

Put it in a thick plastic bag and box it in foam. Like Great Stuff. Don't over do it. May have to put a couple foam blocks under it to let Great Stuff get under it also. But you can cut it to shape and put it in a smaller box once it is encased in foam.

I bought something a few years ago that was the first time I saw spray type foam being used.
