Looking for page from '61 FC assembly manual
Posted by: SteveInMarietta ()

I'm looking for a copy of the RPO index from an early 1961 FC assembly manual. The one shown here is dated 1-31-61.

I'm looking for one with an earlier date. I believe the assembly manual that Clark's sell may have an earlier date - unfortunately that page is missing from my copy.
Any help is appreciated.

Steve

Missing in mine as well, table of contents page has date of 4-29-60 so should be earlier. Clarks might sent you one if you ask.

Off topic but not totally:

RPO 243 "Special Crankcase Ventilation Equipment" |

I wonder if this is the PCV equipment that was optionally available in 1962? I've never seen or heard of anything like this for MY 1961. Anyone have ideas or insight?

To Craig's off topic could that "Special Crankcase Ventilation Equipment" be what was use in California for the '61 model year? That system used a tube coming out of the upper shroud in what became the normal location and then went over to the pass. side round base of the air cleaner. It didn't have any valve or orifice, it was just a road draft tube that was hooked to the dirty side of the air cleaner so that the engine would draw in all of the vapors.

RPO 243 was available as an option in '61 - '62 for vehicles sold in CA, and then became standard equipment.

It's documentation is somewhat spotty; from the Corvanatics Options web page -
"this option is present in the Options and Accessories when Installed by Chevrolet document dated 10/1/60, missing in the 9/29/61 version, included again in the 1/2/62 and 3/1/62 editions, and gone for good in 9/4/62 release. Was its absence in the 9/29/61 version intentional or an accident?"

Sounds like the typical "Retro-fit" system we installed at the carlot I worked at. This is a Ecklers "reproduction for Chevy SBC.

My 1962 air conditioned Corvair convertible has the close ventilation system from the factory, and it does use a PCV valve.

"Taxi cab equipment". I never heard of such equipment available (only) on the 1206.

Sorry Steve. Don't mean to hijack your thread.

Well the RPO list does raise some interesting questions. You can click on this image to see the taxi cab brochure as a pdf.
