Does anyone out there have a Mallory distributor with pressure retard that they would like to sell? If so, please PM me.

I think I have one with a vacuum advance, could the spring be put on the other side of the plunger?

No idea, but I have seen them on other turbo cars. I hope someone will chime in...

I never liked those dual point Mallory distributors, Every time I tried one I lost HP, I do not think the advance cure is right on them?

There was a kit from Mallory to convert their dual point to a Unilite system. And, I believe Pertronix offers a kit to install an Ignitor into one. The advance curves are adjustable, to some extent. The real problem is availability of caps and rotors, both kinds.

Aren't most all of the YC Mallory dual point distributors centrifugal advance? I would say its kind of on the rare side to find a Mallory with vacuum control.

Not Vacuum "PRESSURE retard" for turbo'd apps.

A local club member had me sell on on Ebay about eight years ago. The problem was that the curve was not accurate and he couldn't get it right in the distributor analyzer so he gave up on it. It probably was fine for most users but he could not replicate the factory advance/pressure retard specs so he stuck with his Delco Remy unit.

Thanks folks, but it was indicated to me earlier in the thread that a Mallory won’t work for my car. I have an early Safeguard that doesn’t have a map sensor, so I need a distributor with pressure retard. As a result, I’ll have to stick to my Delco.
