Two technical Articles - Ignition and Steering
Posted by: Seth Emerson ()
Date: June 27, 2020 01:16PM

In between cranking out wire sets, etc. I have written a couple of technical articles. One on the Corvair Ignition systems, the other on Corvair Steering systems. I have loaded the pair as PDF files on the Performance Corvair web site. The link below takes you directly to the Corvair Tech page. You can download either file from that page. I will be adding other topics as I find them appropriate. If you have questions or comments on the two articles, feel free to drop me back a note! [perfvair.com]

Seth,
Could you please add a chart with the length of the steering shaft as it comes out of the box to help people identify which box they have? I believe you've occasionally offered that info in replies to individual requests.

Good idea, Scott.
I have the following applications I can measure:

Flaming River quick box
1965 long shaft
late 65- 1966 short shaft

I would need the following:
1960-1963 short shaft
1964 long shaft
1965 Early Telescoping column
1967-1969 All.

So if someone can measure those (and be sure of the origin) and post them, I would appreciate it. Tape measure against the box housing, measure to the tip!
