Early and FC ignition switches
Posted by: corventure Dave ()
Date: June 25, 2020 03:12PM

Just finished up another batch of "rebuilt" OEM Ignition Switches for Early Corvair's and FC's.

They are exclusively available at California Corvairs.

As you may know these switches in good condition are getting hard to find.
Among other internal issues, after 60 years, these switches tend to burn out at the contact internally. This causes mis-starts and failures to start. It's easy to blame the starter solenoid. Another symptom is when the engine just stops. The ignition "on" contact can slip back just enough to lose it's contact because of the burnt out divot shown.

Like they used to say at the Hot Dog stand.....Get em while their Hot!

It is not about whether he can or not, it is more about does he NEED to or not.
And the answer to THAT question, is NO!
Anyone who has been on CCF for more than ONE DAY, already KNOWS that California Corvairs is a SPONSOR of CCF, and HAS A LINK ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PAGE, readily available to anyone willing to USE IT. spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Dave is the supplier so I would think a link and price would be good business. I didn't say there was a rule requiring it.
Is there a rule against asking questions about a post?

Basic sales. If I want to sell something I need to make it as easy as possible for people to purchase.

Smart people aren't going to buy unknown 50+ year old switches. The bets are on the better switches out there for not much more that will last longer. Not easy job to change out the switch when you are over 50. Best to do it once.

Well, the way I see it, there are two things wrong with your premise.
One is the FIRST TWO words you used! Smart People. That right there is almost oxymoronic. grinning smiley
And the second thing you are overlooking, is the fact that while what you said would be true in 3/4 of the Universe, WE are living in the Vairverse.
We both know that Vairittes are some of the cheapest skinflints around!
Someone out there IS willing to buy AND install your used ignition switch right now.
Of course, they only want to pay $10.oo and have you pay shipping.
But if you hold out, they WILL eventually step up to $15.oo, plus the ride.
After all, they are saving $5.oo, and ZERO sales tax!
